đ A Life Without Shelter is a Life at Risk
In Eastern Uganda, countless families â especially widows, orphans, the elderly, and persons with disabilities â live in unsafe, collapsing, or makeshift structures, often without proper roofing, sanitation, or security. Some sleep outdoors entirely, exposed to weather, theft, and disease.
Umar Khan Charity Organization is on a mission to provide secure, dignified housing for the most vulnerable. Because a home is more than a structure â it’s the foundation of hope, safety, and self-worth.
đ§±Â What We Build
Our Shelter for the Homeless program includes:
- Two-room brick homes with iron sheet roofing
- Lockable doors and windows for safety
- Basic sanitation facilities (latrines & water access)
- Solar lighting where electricity is unavailable
- Furnishings where possible (mattress, utensils, bedding)
We build in deeply underserved villages, prioritizing widowed mothers, elderly without family, and orphan-headed households.
